Wicked: The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West (The Wicked Years, #1)

i was underwhelmed. i don't know if too many people recommended it to me or what and it just couldn't live up to the hype. i liked the story and i liked a lot of the details. it was written well, but in a kind of convoluted "story-telling" kind of way. the political bent of the novel was very interesting, but mostly underdeveloped or unresolved. i loved the character of elphaba, however. she was drawn clearly and wholly. many other characters were compelling as well. it felt too long, but i enjoyed it more or less. i wish it could have said more in fewer pages.
