James LOL!!!! Oh man that's funny. I still love Ernest's language and the emotion it evokes.

Chadijah Mastura I tried to get past the first chapter of this book years ago and never prevailed... This review exactly describes the whole soul of the book :D

Dave Same here. The problem is I was required to read it, so this made things somewhat complicated. Although I rarely succeed, I try to keep my happy/sad feelings from emulating the ratings I give. Just me being me.

I still thought A Farewell to Arms was great, but insitantly sad throughout.

Carol Storm Normally I hate when people trash Hemingway. But THAT was funny!!!

D.C. Gallin hahahah

Emanuel Landeholm I lolled!

Kim This book is one of my favorites, but this review made me choke on my coffee. Hilarious!

message 8: by Don Incognito (new)

Don Incognito One probably needs a certain sense of humor to see why that "joke" by Hemingway is funny. I don't.

Sasha I couldn't agree more.

Betty Perfect!

Emil Avedisian I'm sure the chicken had been drinking a lot of capri and vermouth

LS Yang It was funny hh

message 15: by Tom (new) - rated it 2 stars

Tom James I laughed out loud at that one. Exactly how Hemingway would finish that joke.

message 16: by Quo (new) - rated it 4 stars

Quo Skylar: I could not locate your review of the Hemingway book but the included quip comes from an age-old Hemingway parody contest. So, it should either be listed as such or if you were the actual author of the winning entry, take credit but still attribute it. No book is for every reader but in the case of authors like Hemingway & Faulkner, both Nobel laureates in spite of the nay-saying voices, imitation or parody is definitely a kind of authorial flattery.

Steve Sorry, I don’t want to live in a world where we attribute jokes.

Jenny YES and I frickin love it. Be still my heart, we're breaking.

Jessie 😂😂

message 20: by Luke (new) - rated it 5 stars

Luke Edwards Although I disagree with your start rating, I wholeheartedly enjoyed your joke. Well done.
