** spoiler alert **
Jaw. Dropped.
Yeah, I’m marking for spoilers because I don’t feel like I can talk about this book without referencing them.
So much going on. So many intricacies. Miriam Wu. The insane boxing match with Wu and Paulo Roberto and Niedermann. I don’t care how many sandwiches and coffee she eats, I love reading about everything Salander does. Her growth as she starts to figure out how she’s hurt people by not communicating with them!
And that beginning? Kick-butt. And the reappearance of Palmgren! Bjurman’s futile attempts to undo Salander. Basically, everything involving Salander.
But enough dithering. I know we’re all here to talk about that ending.
Y’all, I was SO upset when Zalachenko was like “She’s dead and buries her. I was worried I wasn’t going to be able to finish the book, and it’s not even like there was too much left. I just...couldn’t take it. Had to pause for a while. Hit like a Shakespearean-level tragedy. BUT. THEN. SHE. GETS. UP. I was like Zalachenko’s gonna lose his MIND. Her tiredly attacking him in the shed was so vivid. Her final release of the gun at the end. I knew exactly what she was going to say, and I loved it.
Basically, I better get plenty of Salander in the next book. She’s the first character I’ve ever thought to myself “I Stan her. Don’t know what you did, Larsson, but you made me love this scrappy little chick.
