really liked it

'It was funny how little things could be so perfect and no one ever saw them'

The back and forth, past and present chapters each pull together strongly, giving you such a great sense of the character that by the end you have lived Blaze's life alongside him.

The connection Blaze still has with his friend, George, is all in true King style. It seems like part of Blaze's naivety throughout, until it starts to become a little more and leaves you wondering of the supernatural abilities taking over here.

Between the rawness and strength of Blaze, Bachman found such a softness to his character that pull at your heart.
The image of the lonely birds he see's when he's sad.
'The way he sometimes wanted to cry when he saw one bird sitting all by itself on a telephone wire.'

The love and care of a memory worth treasuring to him.
'He gave her a smile. And she smiled back. Blaze folded that smile, put it away, and kept it for years.'

On the surface Blaze seemed so empty to the world and eventually becoming to them, a brute of strength and danger. However, we get to know the depth within Blaze, his capabilities of a true reflective mind and loving soul. The parts of him he wouldn't know how to put into words to describe for himself.

'It was a painful world too. Not just dirty but painful.'

The emotions you feel for this guy!
He is a modern day Lennie (Of Mice and Men) with his mental disabilities effecting his choices and directions in life.
There is such a strong pivitol moment where his life, given the chance, would of taken a completely different pathway. His one time oppertunity to have a good life.
As can be, things were not meant to be.
Oh his naivety makes me so sad!

This is a narrative where there is so much beauty to find through those constant looming shadows of no hope. And you know it, you feel the no hope right from the start.

'I'm not complaining, but...
Then what are you doing sporty? Blaze could hear George asking. Eating cat food out of a dog's bowl?'

Blaze turned out to be a great powerful read.

You don't know nothin about that, but you will.
He gets older and his whole life starts to seem like a dream he had during an afternoon nap.
You know?'"
