Wow, it's been a while since I have ignored everything that needs doing to finish a book. I have been meaning to read this for years, and finally plucked a paperback copy from the Knights of Columbus $1.00 book sale last weekend. What a story. Manderley, the estate of Maxim de Winter, was just as real a character as himself, his new young wife (never named), his 1st wife (dead), and the malevolent housekeeper, Mrs. Danvers. This book deserves it's status as a classic.

Now that I can remember what the tale was all about, just finished a reread, I so agree with you, Diane.

Wonderful book, what a deal you got :)Wonderful review, I hope I can add some classics to my list this coming year... the few that I have read in the past few years have been my favorite reads!!
