Well shoot.

Please believe me when I tell you that I SO wanted to love this book. It sounded amazing and I had heard many people whose reviews I trust absolutely rave about it. Butttt unfortunately this was just not for me. There were just so many aspects I did not enjoy about this. The banter between Gus and January just felt so forced and you could tell the author was trying to show us just how quirky these two were through their witty banter. But I’ll let you in on a little secret...NO ONE ANYWHERE ON PLANET EARTH TALKS LIKE THIS!!!! It was just so awkward for me to read and was just one of the reasons I could not get behind their relationship. (Also I don’t know if this is just me but if you promise me an enemies to lovers romance they better not have kissed by the 100th page 🙄🙄🙄) Obviously as this is a romance book, because I wasn’t invested in the couple, I didn’t enjoy this book overall. Also, I went into this book thinking it was dual POV, and after reading it I definitely wish we would have gotten the story from Gus’s POV as well. I think that might have made me enjoy the story more.

Sadly, this book was not for me and I seem to be the unpopular opinion here...oopsies.
