Read 2 times. Last read September 26, 2017 to September 28, 2017.

2017 Reread: I read this for my young adult literature class along with scholastic articles about the book, which added a great new layer to my interpretation of the novel.

Original Review: I've owned this book for years and never got around to reading it until yesterday. I'm happy I did because this was one of the best books that I have read lately. Speak was very well paced and I never found the story to be dragging or boring. I loved the character development and Melinda's voice throughout the story. (Original rating: 5/5 stars)

When you first review the book, there should be a box in that window to check that says you own it. If you want to add it to an existing review, go to that book page and click on the edit button next to the My Activity section. Once you do that, you should be able to check the box to mark it as owned. You might have to click the More Details link under the read dates to view the check box.

Quinn I read this for my YA class as well. I love how we pair these books with scholarly articles and have deep discussions!

Julia Scasny I ordered this book and I can't wait to read it!

Susan Zoe, I know an 11 year old girl who reads at a level probably 14-15 years old. Would this book be too mature for her content wise? I would appreciate your opinion. Thanks.

Allison This book was great! I’ve read another book by Laurie Halse Anderson and both books are my favorite. I usually don’t like reading but this was one of the books I actually like. The way this book is written is so different. At first when I started reading this book I thought she was just an outcast. As I kept reading I figured out why she didn’t talk to anyone. This book is very creative and descriptive.

I really liked how the author incorporated humor in this book even though it was a more serious topic. It made me feel all types of emotions, sad, annoyed, happy, everything. At times I got bored and other times I couldn’t wait to know what comes next. This story is a series of ups & downs. Heather is one of the characters and I definitely know someone like her. She makes the story more realistic and enjoyable. I definitely recommend this book.

Roaa Mallak Hi, I'm planning to write a research paper about this book in one of my courses at college. Is there any chance that you can give me the list of scholarly articles that you read? It would help me a lot. Thanks in advance.
