it was amazing
bookshelves: financial, non-fiction

I knew I would like this book because of the subject matter - I’ve geeked out on DB for years. But I didn’t expect the nuanced subplot - the story of a painful family dissolution and a son’s search for acceptance. All of the various strains of this book - the institutional history of a global financial behemoth, the intersection of politics, finance and criminality, the family drama - were skillfully woven with empathy for its subjects by this veteran reporter.
