This book is so moving! To be fairly honest I cried, so sometimes it was a bit hard to keep on reading it. But I wouldn't change this experience for nothing in this world.
Just dive in! A masterpiece.

I'm Brazilian and I'm so happy that you are reading Machado de Assis. Besides being an incredible writer, one of the most important in Brazil, the story of the author is also quite interesting and very related to the process of enslavement of black people (and their consequences to this day) in Brazil. I can't wait to hear what you think of this book.

That's so cool! Machado the Assis is the most important Brazilian author. He's out of this world. Such complex and interesting stories. Full of politics too. He was ahead of his time in the nineteen century.
É sem dúvida um grande livro. Todos os livros de Machado de Assis são bom. Adorei este e o Dom Casmurro.
