Dawn (Xenogenesis, #1)

I must say, I am disappointed. I must confess, I am not a science fiction fan, but when reading the synopsis of this book I could hardly contain my excitement. I thought it was such a fascinating concept and my mind began to run wild with the possibilities of how this story could unfold.
Unfortunately, the book turned out to be the exact opposite of what I expected. Out of all the avenues this story could have taken, I feel the author drove completely off the road and into an abyss of straight garbage.
From forced love interests that came literally out of no where, to a poor writing style from start to finish, I found it impossible to lock in. The events seemed completely random and I felt had 0 importance to the story. I was more motivated to finish the book so I could be done with it than to see what was going to happen next throughout the story.
Being that this concept has so much potential, I’d love to see someone else pick up this topic and re write it with a better vision. So long as Octavia Butler is the author, I will not be continuing this series.
