really liked it
bookshelves: fiction, japanese-author

The premise of the book sounded interesting with the over-lapping and the eerie and macabre story lines and was wondering when that was going to happen as it seemed there was only one or two lines from the first couple chapters that were mentioned in the following chapter.

But then, it all hits you like a punch in the face! And you wonder how did she Ogawa come up with those ideas, stories, characters, settings, etc? I loved when it all came together and there were times when I was left shaking my head! Each chapter ending was intriguing, especially the last one.

A friend suggested reading the author's Memory Police (still on my TBR list), but read this one first to see if I could fet an idea of her writing style, eventhough it was translated.

I'm looking forward to reading the above mentioned novel, Housekeeper & Professor and Diving Pool. Others on this site suggest Hotel Iris as well

Recommended for those who like Ogawa's work, macabre stories and looking to add Asian authors to their collection.
