It feels strange giving 5 stars when at times I wished I'd never embarked on this marathon. But this is what Mr King does best. He creates a world, drags you through pages of seemingly unnecessary detail and tangents, until before you know it you've develop an emotional attachment to his cast of characters.
My favourite was Larry, I've always been a sucker for flawed individuals who strive to come good! He seemed the most relatable and realistic companion on this journey. I also found Trash Can Man kind of loveable, maybe partly because I pictured him as Freddy Kreuger. I did find it hard to warm to Stu 'Mr Perfect' Redman although still found myself rooting for him.
As I say, there were times when I wondered if it would ever end but now it's gone I'm missing it already!
