** spoiler alert ** So just a quick word about this book (particularly after reading some of the reviews) - my take away is that all the sexism, racism and general fuckery of this all is supposed to piss you off.
Not one white female character in this books has any redeemable qualities. They are all 110% okay with white supremacy and the patrichary - in fact that eat it up. Hendrick highlights that in how they treat Ms. Greene and how they are okay sacrificing black and brown children as long as their kids remain untouched. This story is designed to be outlandish and to piss you off. I think that’s the great design of the story line.

Vanessa That's exactly what I said! It's supposed to piss people off and to show how no one gives a crap when it's black/brown kids going missing. The women in the story only care when it starts affecting their lives personally. I don't get how some people keep missing this.
