“You’re the glass ballerina- or the knife.

Hot boys and riddle filled mysteries are a to die for combo. If anything, it should be an instant 4 stars at least. And I’m proud to say this book delivered on all it needed too!

Avery was such a likeable character. Her POV was instantly relatable, her thoughts weren’t annoying to read, and her actions made sense. She was easy to root for, and even easier to read about.

Ahh. The boys. I could say so much about them, but for now a paragraph each should do, no?

Xander:
He’s the youngest brother, and probably the smartest. He has a very intriguing role in the story, and the epilogue makes me wonder what else Tobias Hawthorne has planned for him. Why has Xander’s game just begun?
He has a sweet personality and even though he did get on my nerves he mostly has good intentions, so no complaints there.

Jameson:
Ahh Jameson!! I like his character. He was an instant favourite of mine when we first met him but that has wavered since the end. I do understand all he’s going for, but he does have some edge that I don’t like. Or rather, he has some secrets we need to learn before I give him my full trust.

Grayson:
My favourite brother I guess? He’s cold and charming and arrogant so there isn’t an awful lot of appeal but ... he has a soft side and can be vulnerable so I do like him. I think he had many more layers to uncover in the sequel and I know I’ll probably love him soon.

Nash:
Lol I love him. I imagined him as a cowboy the entire time and it was great. He’s chill and protective and despite the fact he’s a player I guess (we need some answers there) he is really kind and I trust him. Just watch that be the end of my trust haha. I think he has some secrets and I’m curious as to if he has some other game he needs to play too.

“Simple is a lie. But a beautiful one sometimes.

The plot was great. Quick chapters aren’t my favourite and for a book under 400 pages to have over 90 chapters, it’s a feat. But they work for this type of story. We have some great riddles and clues in this book. Every time we got one I paused my reading to solve it as much as I could without actually being in the house where this book takes place. I suppose my smarts also lead to some frustration as the characters didn’t see the clue I had figured out. But it worked in the end.
But can we talk about the twist at the end? How?
I mean as soon as the no body actually found was said I knew that he wasn’t dead, but to be that person as well? And why? How? What does he know?

The whole mystery with Rebecca and Emily was great as we slowly saw the truth be revealed over the course of the story. And the chapter cliffhangers about it were insane.

I am very excited for more romance and riddles in book 2, and I would like it ASAP.

Nothing is certain but death and taxes.
