So umm I have mixed thoughts on this book. I waited to write this review until after I finished the second book as well as another Colleen Hoover book and I'm still just so confused on my thoughts lol.
First, I think that the people who enjoy this book like it because this is the style of books they read. I never have read a book because I want to cry which is why I didn't particularly like this book.
The number of times a literally wrote in the book "i don't like this book" is wild. It wasn't necessarily bad but I just didn't find it to be realistic at all. That being said I also usually read fantasy so what do I know.
To go off of what I said about it not being realistic I have seen other people say that they thought it was realistic. Here are some reasons I don't think it was realistic:
*SPOILERS**
1. Ryle just so happened to be Alyssa brother.
2. Alyssa just happens to walk into Lily's unopened shop looking for a job because of a "Help Wanted" sign (as if no where else had a sign up).
3.Atlas just happened to be the owner of the restaurant she was at but had never been to before despite trying new restaurant with her mom every week.
4. The day they ran into Atlas was the day after he had hit her...like come on now what are the odds of that happening.
5. Atlas and Lily happened to walk out of the bathroom while Ryle was standing there... so what you're telling me is he just left her mom at the table alone?
6. Going off of that.... you mean her mother wasn't even phased by Atlas standing there.
7. Atlas's phone number was still in the back of Lily's phone case despite her memorizing it. Wouldn't she have taken it out after the memorized it. If not then what was the point in memorizing it to begin with.
8.Lily had no clue she was pregnant...now I don't know much about it but since she was already a few weeks wouldn't she have morning sickness or potentially miss her period.
10. And how is it that Atlas and Lily never ran into each other yet in the second book they see each other frequently....
11. I think for me this is the part where I was like "What the Fuck" this is not realistic!!!... So Ryle accidentally killed his brother, okay that part I believed. Until her performed a surgery on the same situation AND it just happened to be the night that he met Lilly.
I know its just a book but I don't understand how people say they like it cause its realistic lol.
I probably wont read this book again but it was a quick easy read it was just so sad. I do like how Hoover immediately goes into the story instead of wasting time with a background.
