⭐️3.4/5⭐️
EDIT: I watched the show, and I have to say that I enjoyed the show more than the novel. I know, I know. That doesn’t happen very often! But the show pulled out details that I hadn’t noticed in the boom, or helped tie together situations!
I guess that was good?
Not the ending I was expecting at all, that’s for sure.
Just different.

Each person you read about made you question who the killer was, whether they were acting guilty or being mournful because there was a killer on the loose who killed two little girls. You questioned who was in on it throughout the whole book. But, I’ll be honest, I had it half correct from the beginning.

I did enjoy the detailed descriptions of situations, events, people, etc.
Amma gives you weird vibes right from the start…like, what 13 year old in a small town acts like that???? Chill. And, the temper tantrums? Give me a break.
Camille also gave me odd vibes. As soon as I found out what “sharp objects meant, I guess I got put-off on her. But to each their own!
John, poor John. Went through hell for nothing (in my opinion).
Alan…do I like Alan? Not really…do I think he had also fallen off the racehorse? Hmmmm I can’t say for sure, but probably.
Adora is just an odd mother from the get-go. I figured something was off, but hey, I guess it runs through the family, huh?

I guess I was expecting more from this novel since I thoroughly enjoyed Dark Places. And, since soooo many people enjoyed this novel. But it really didn’t hit the nail for me. I enjoyed some of the twists and mysteries, but if it didn’t have any of that, probably would have ranked it lower.
And, I’m kind of tired of reading about MBP…it was a unique idea at the time, but now, because of Gypsy Rose, it’s being overdone.
Maybe I’ll watch the movie and see if I enjoy it better.
