it was amazing

giovanni :( *spoilers* i knew going into this that it was sad but i wasn't expecting giovanni's room itself to hold so much weight metaphorically as well as physically. to me, giovanni's room was a microcosm of david + giovanni's relationship, or alternately, david's queer identity, suggested by the way he continuously seeks to escape it, particularly when he is with hella. the most heartbreaking part for me was when hella finds out + david is left with no one; the reader is struck knowing david may have been happy with giovanni had hella found out when they were together + that he probably would still be alive as a consequence. the writing was also so beautiful + lyrical. definitely a new favourite.
