I haven’t read any of the Myron/Win series, whilst I didn’t have the background, it can easily be read as a standalone or #1 in the series.

There is a murder at the Beresford Apartment Building, the body of a recluse and hoarder is discovered. Items found on the scene connect to the Lockwood family. The stolen family Verneer taken years ago in an art heist and a case bearing Win Lockwood’s initials. The items connect to the murder of Win’s Uncle Aldrich and the rape and torture of his cousin Patricia. Patricia was kept at the infamous Hut of Horrors after she escaped it was uncovered other young women where held and murdered.

Win investigates the murder; he uncovers who was behind the Art Heist all those years ago. Win connects the dots of what happened at the Hut of Horrors, lots of thills, suspense and nail bitting tension in this one. I liked Win, his sarcasm and narcissistic nonchalance was entertaining.
I read this book switching between the audio and my physical copy. The audio version is brilliant, I kept picturing Win as Jason Bull from the “Bull TV Series. I saw a lot of Bull’s personality in Win.

Highly engaging and entertaining read, I’m looking forward to the next book in the series.
Thank you to Penguin Random House Australia and Harlan Coben for my ARC in exchange for my honest review.
