Gay Bar: Why We Went Out

CAUTION: This is a BORING read.
The cover art is misleading. This is not a raunchy read. I'd classify as the history and evolution of the gay bars in the UK and the mutual influence in California, LA and San Francisco.
I finished it because I was curious about that. AND because I miss only-men environments.
True, bars in SF California are becoming a straight women hangouts. Nothing wrong. But the sexual tension and thrill of the gays has disappeared.
The author has few sections here and there that are funny. Yet, it reads as a historical lecture in a fictionalized autobiography. Yes, it's boring and may be so for the regular reader.
Do I recommend it? mmm... nah. Unless you're gay of yesterday feeling nostalgic.
