There's so much wrong, lol.
This book is a mess and it's mostly because there is so little care given to the quality of the plot. This book is meant to be about this big, deadly, tragic war, but we are never shown any concequences to the war EVER. No death (at least no meaningful death, which i dont necessarily need, but i want sacrifices to mean something.) This book takes itself way too seriously, there is more attention paid to the silly romances, none of which develop over the course of 700 pages, they're all just there taking up valuble page time.
The build up to this war was handled very poorly. First of all, there was 300 pages of build up for a meeting (eye roll.) Did you know Elain gets kidnapped and saved in the span of two chapters? Because i forgot that happened from the first time i read it. Rhys dies and comes back in the space of 3 pages. The ouroburos, SOOOOOO MUCH BUILD UP, and then Feyre just gets it and leaves - i thought it was meant to ve deadly. Everything just became super easy.
Characters who we barely know come and go and they're all apparenrly super important, but because they've only ever been mentioned rather than shown, i care about none of them (miryam and drakon, i don't care about. and who the hell is VASSA.) Info about characterz are just randomly flipped for the sake of "plot twists" but since there is never any foreshadowing or set up, it all feels clunky and ridiculous (ahem, Mor.)
Lastly, i wanna give a shout out to Nesta for being the MVP and being the only character im actually fully invested in, but because she is getting her own novel, she's done so dirty. Shes nowhere near a full character because there is no explanation for her powers - what can she do? i don't know! Her and Cassian, whats happening there? i dont know?
This book ends the trilogy horrible because nothing is tied up, everything is left open for future novels which is terrible. Not just for me for pushing through this godforsaken trilogy, but the fact that not one editor in this industry read this and saw that it had MAJOR, FATAL flaws that meant it can't stand on its own is astounding.
