Interesting? Definitely. Powerful? Not quite.

Do approach this book with an open mind, it is just a collection of communication tips that might help you advance in your social interaction. I believe if Dale was alive now, he would add a lot more points into this book that might make it more interesting. Having said that, the book is quite easy to read with a lot of examples, and may I say, a little verbose once in a while.

Why 3 stars? First, I only learn 1 or 2 small points from it. I have been well aware and self-reflecting in each and every dialogue. So in my case, it is not powerful. Second, some examples used in this book are very superficial that over-intensify the significance of the tips, or “principles� as worded by Carnegie. Lastly, I was thrown off by the introduction part of this book, 27 pages of only book praises and instructions to use it. Pompous.

But all in all, it’s a fun one for those who want to reflect on their communication skills.
