4 1/2 stars. Honestly I really loved this book. I’m not gonna lie the first half was slow for the most part and having just come off of the climax ending that The Cruel Prince had, it was quite annoying. There were interesting things happening but it just felt so slow and I was becoming afraid this series was going to go downhill. HOWEVER the second half of the book was ridiculously intoxicating. It was fast paced but also so interesting in terms of the events and relationships and getting so see yet a different side to Jude. The second half of the book was really what I wanted from the beginning (apart from any scenes with Cardan in it, those were great - in my opinion he still wasn’t in it enough!) and the ending will leave you with your jaw on the floor. The second half of the book was so good it made up for the slow first half. Overall the stakes are much higher in this book and that makes for a lot more tension. I read this is 2 days!
