Video Review

I am so happy to have finally read this beloved modern classic. I have never seen the movie but I am certainly interested now.

I've read some of this author's non fiction and was quite impressed with this piece of fiction. While the story was deeply infused by the author's knowledge, he still managed to present an exciting narrative.

I really appreciate that the author acknowledged some of the challenges that female authors may face within the sector. It felt like a very feminist piece that I would normally expect to see from a female author.

After reading other first contact books, I appreciated the nuanced conversations surrounding SETI and first contact. I love science fiction that can expand my knowledge and make me excited to learn more on my own.

Dave Anderson I love this book. The author and the book both do a great job of highlighting both what is scientifically true as well as what provides a sense of meaning to us as humans. The movie streamlines the story a bit, in order to fit 580 pages of story into a 2-1/2 hour runtime, but it is also fantastic.
