After so many bad reviews I started reading this book with prejudice. I didn't like the new characters and was tired of long and boring descriptions of the roads, garbs, meals and many other things, I couldn't see where the story was going. But then this new characters (old ones as well) began to grow on me,their stories got more interesting and the book got me hooked. I'm halfway through the book and I'm staying up late at nights to finish it quickly. After the 3rd and this book Jaime Lannister has become one of my favorite characters and I'm always looking forward to the chapter written from his POV.
Of course the book has some shortcomings too. No matter how interesting it gets there are still a lot of long and tedious descriptions that I usually skip now. And it's nothing as brilliant as "A storm of swords". And there are so many story lines that I sometimes forget what happened in the previous chapter of POV character. I've almost finished the book.just wanted to add this though.I didnt imagine that i could despise Catelyn any more than I already do.I was wrong again. She's truly become stoneheart now. I wish Dondarrion would bring Robb back instead of her. Finally finished the book. I'll say again: This book was.not as great as the previous one, BUT still very enjoyable. It really doesnt deserve all these bad reviews.I gave AFFC a 5 start and it truly deserves every bit of it.
