Flatland: A Romance of Many Dimensions

A fun little story that didactically explores some of the points of basic geometry in the fictional world of flatland and uses the geometrical fiction to satirize eugenics and a hierarchical society which makes the story seem a little less childish as Abbot elaborates on a revolutionary isosceles triangle underclass executing a private army of reactionary, upper-middle class hexagons. The story is often compared to Gulliver’s travels and I can see where they are coming from, as both are using a surreal fantasy world to satirize their own respective societies, though Gulliver’s travels is based off the hyped up travelogue literature of his time rather than abstract geometry.
