The Wrath and the Dawn (The Wrath and the Dawn, #1)

Purple prose. So much purple prose. Half of the metaphors don't even make sense if you break them down. Shahrzad and Khalid fall in insta-love after some dubcon sex and the assassination plot is dropped after three days. Literally THREE DAYS. Shahrzad is supposed to be highly intelligent, intimidating, and a captivating storyteller yet that's not actually shown. She somehow made the tale of Aladdin boring? Lots of telling and not showing, or showing and THEN also telling in an oddly redundant way. It's been a few days since I stopped reading, so that's all I remember off the dome.
