20% DNF. I understand why people like this (princess and her bodyguard have a "thing" going on), but the only aspect of this book that ended up interesting me was Japan and its imperial family. Everything else was bland and boring, particularly the characters - which is, when reading a contemporary romance is a no-go for me. So I went ahead and listened to a 24-lecture Great Course on understanding Japan instead, as any normal reader would do, right?
