STRONG START with mid finish

this book has one of the strongest starts i’ve read. it picks ip immediately and there’s that sense of mystery and urgency established early on. i couldn’t put it down (which is a bad thing when you start this book during lunch time at work). I STRUGGLED I COULDN’T FOCUS because i was so absorbed by the story telling.

but as the plot progressed, i found that it was downhill from there. Don’t get me wrong, it was still good but it was nothing i didn’t predict midway. There was a lack of twists i was expecting and a lack of the puzzles/enigmas that I thought our MC would show off solving. The start established that she’s smart and has a strong will but it kind of vanished along the way?? she was torn between the boys and confused with the mixed signals and I just wished it was one aspect of her personality that was more highlighted.

The main mystery was actually about Emily and once that was out of the way, it just fell short for me. (Also i find the emily-centeredness a bit annoying lol)

lastly, WHY OH WHY WOULD U TORTURE JAMESON AND GRAY LIKE THIS??? only to be pitted once more against each other WHY
