Olga Tokarczuk is a master of short form what was already visible in 'House of Day, House of Night', 'Flights' and 'Bizarre stories'. Three detached short stories composing this brief volume depict how Olga can create from something as ordinary as being a housekeeper in a hotel something transcendent and extra-ordinary. The language is where everything happens, the focused, brief methaphors that communicate much more that could be seen from their length, the detailed descriptions of the characters and their surroundings, the subtle word plays and the mindful attention to the direction of each of these peculiar stories.

I hope the volume will get translated into English soon but for the ones curious here is the first short story 'The Wardrobe' which can give you an indication of what to expect from Olga's exquisite writing: .
