Well written, easily read, honest. Almost a biblical style of story about a man with many false friends, who hang around because of his money and believe the worst of him while they do, even though we the reader are made aware he is innocent of all the charges they bring against him in their minds and in their gossip. How shallow human nature can be. Still, a beautifully written tale.
