Chuck has never been a very good writer. He comes up with interesting ideas, uses them as a vehicle for a shitty novel, then I read it, and am disappointed every time. I have since stopped reading his books but my girlfriend says they still suck.

Soleil God I hate Chuck Palahnuik; I hated Fight Club, and after reading Lullaby because a friend recommended it to me I never want to read anything by him again. I completely agree with you. He is a horrbile writer.

Shayna L Totally agree. His ideas are pretty much amazing when you first hear the premise, but then handled in a terrible way. I've really only read this book, but it frustrated the living HELL out of me to see how many great themes he shoves into the book, but never explores or uses as a plot. I kind of wish a good author who never heard of the guy would be given just the pitch for this book and then write his/her own version. Could be epic.

Yuce Just read your review seeing that it gives this author only one star. Shitty isn't the right word, but it's the first that comes to mind.

Transylvanian Angel why the bloody hell did you even bother reading more of him, if you thought his writing "sucks"?!? one novel should have sufficed to form an opinion about a writer/novelist/whatever... they seldom (neighboring on never) change their style...
why? just so that you can post vague, and "empty" comments in here?
as for saying Chuck Palahniuk "has never been a very good writer"... don't even get me started on an argument about that...
really now... why don't you just go mind your own and don't spoil the fun for people who like his novels...
thank you.

Yoolka I don't agree with you but I like your review! I feel this way about films by Lars von Trier. :)

I agree, he has good ideas but don't you still feel that those ideas are the same everytime?

message 7: by Serdar (new)

Serdar The term I came up for him at one point was "edgelord Stephen King," and it seems to still be true.

Bruno so sad when readers are dumb

Winds I agree and I like your review, such a waste of time reading everything from Palahniuk
