I'm late to the party for this series so I doubt my review will bring anything new, but here we go!
This is a great Book 1 in a series:
--fun characters with lots of room for growth
--foundations of a magical world with questions to be answered
--steady pacing with a mix of action, dialogue, and setting
--resolved initial plot of theft and murder
