I'd give it a 3.5 instead of 3. I feel like a bulk of the craziness happens in the last third of the book. I also feel like the last 50 pages dragged on a bit. Some of the scenes felt a bit repetitive and I'm not sure if it truly added much to the story. Also the "flashback" explaining the history of the "plot-twist" felt slightly choppy and underwhelming. Overall I still enjoyed the gothic elements of the story and the way post-colonialism was incorporated into the book.
