Great three-dimensional characters all with histories and families. So in depth and good there with Sportcoat and Hettie and Deems and Elephante.

No real mystery going on, however, although that's what the book was marketed as, unless you count why Sportcoat can't remember why he shot Deems, but that's not too much of a mystery and doesn't give it a mystery feel.

Also, the worst parts are when you run into two (at least) quick but very fake seeming slap stick humor events tied up in attempted murder. Those just seemed really poorly done and not funny in the least.

It is a continuously interesting story but never thrilling or riveting or page turning.
