Son (The Giver, #4)

Lowry returns us to the original setting of the Giver and masterfully ads depth and understanding to that world. She blends in characters from the previous three perfectly; never too obvious but with just the right amount of foreshadowing.
I found the first 2 thirds of the story rich and captivating, but part 3 felt a but underdeveloped. While I'm fond of the final message Lowry presents, which encapsulates the point of all 4 books, I think it deserved more treatment. Something of that magnitude commands more. More depth, more reflection, more ramifications.
With that said, it's a good story and the 4 together repeat a theme worth repeating: bravery, individuality, and hope can go along way to changing things.
