This book is more literary than horror, which could also be said of the original story of Frankenstein. This book uses the retelling to depict the US occupied Baghdad. This story is highly politicized, delving deeply into the culture and hardships of these reasons. There is a lot I respect and appreciate in this book but I did not find the narrative as immersive as I wished it would be. Overall I liked this one and would recommend it to other readers as long as they understand what kind of book they are getting.
