So disappointed! This book was terrible. It doesn't compare whatsoever to my beloved The Fault In Our Stars.
Spoiler -----
Margo forces Q to go with her on night filled with revenge on her friends and other lame errands. Q is drooling over this girl who is no prize. She's bossy and talks about herself and ridicules him while he keeps following her commands. Then he calls it the best night of his life.
The author gives no reason for the reader to be as enchanted by her. If its the fact that she's spontaneous and popular at school, that didn't work for me.
After Margo runs away, I liked the idea of clues left behind for Q to find her. However, these clues were extremely far fetched. The majority of the story was Q obsessing over Margo and analyzing the "clues" over and over.
Nearly everything that happens in this story is unbelievable. Margo was supposedly quirky and adventurous and hung out in abandoned buildings yet she was the "queen bee" at school. Yeah right. Q's friend Ben was incredibly annoying. In real life, he would never end up dating a popular girl, Q and Ben would never be invited to a popular kid's house for a prom party, the bully would never decide to be nice and hang out with them, the kids would NEVER leave their graduation to drive out of state where Margo might be.
Which doesn't make sense, if there are vague clues, that means she's fine. So stop chasing her. Q doesn't even know for sure if the clues are meant for him, they are just proof of she was there.
The last section of the book when the kids finally find her, Margo is completely unpleasant and so self-centered. Then it ends. What? John Green, so let down!!!
