"This story is a narrative of how Samira, the main character, attempts to save her mother from the clutches of the Nazis during D-day. Most of the story takes place 2 hours before the invasion occurs. I predict that her mother will survive because that is the way stories work, but maybe Alan Gratz has planned something different."
