** spoiler alert ** This book was really disappointing to me, especially since I absolutely loved the first one. It’s a bit upsetting since the first book would be the kind of story I’d recommend to everybody, but I’d have to warn about the downfall of the sequel. Unfortunately a third book cannot just undo all the events of this one; it had so much wasted potential and it was just all over the place. Especially since the plot point of Beatrice falling in love with Teddy was so weak- it could all be destroyed if she had just spent less time with him, and it just felt too easy to leave as the ending. The entire first book sold a story of Beatrice’s independence, and royals mixing with commoners, yet in the end she still does exactly what her father wanted her to do. Nothing has changed, no big impact was made, and I can tell the author tries to justify these actions through some confusing reasoning on Beatrice’s part. Overall just extremely disappointing, I wish this book could be erased and given an alternate ending. The beginning seemed like it had potential and it all went downhill from there, I kept wanting things to pick up but they never did.
