- This is my first Mariana Zapata book and it did not disappoint. I knew it was going to be a slowburn and it was but I actually liked seeing their relationship go from 0 to 100!!

Vanessa is a character you can see yourself in sometimes. She didn't stand up for herself and that's what we also do sometimes. She starts from this to gradually opening up and communicating her feelings, feeling more confident and generally being herself more. She is the person who tries to make you feel happy and is always there for you when you need a true friend.

Aiden is a hard character to like at first. His development is truly noticable and how he opens up day by day. I still don't agree with some things he did or said but at the end, he made up for it.

Something that I did not like and noticed it too in From blood and ash is that we see too much of Vanessa's thoughts. I know it sounds weird let me explain. For example, when she is talking to someone, she says one sentence, then we get a whole page of her talking to herself, then the other person asnwers and then again a whole page of her thoughts, and then she answers again. The book might have been 50 pages shorter.

- Now I want to read more of her books but I am not a big fan of the single parent trope. We'll see how it goes.
