A story well told, a joy to read, a page-turner.
Jane Eyre annoyed me a bit though. She wants us to believe that if you trust in the Good Lord, everything will be alright. She portrays herself as a near saint, and as liberal as she may be toward equality of the sexes, she's still shockingly conservative in respect to the English class system end the perceived superiority of English civilization.
To me this book is not at all timeless.
