Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone (Harry Potter, #1)

I loved it! Potter was my proof that you really shouldn't judge a book by it's cover.
I was never much a fan of reading before Potter and when I first heard about Potter as a book and a movie, I shrugged it off thinking it looked lame. I kept that stance until I gave in and saw the 3rd Potter movie which I loved and my curiosity was tugged enough to want to know more about the series. I borrowed Sorcerer's Stone from a family member, but struggled with it a bit and couldn't get into it. I left it alone for a while and tried again just before the 4th movie. I was immediately hooked. Why I wasn't hooked the first time around....I don't know. But the second time around I sped through the book in a couple of days. I loved it!!
In Sorcerers Stone, Harry lives with relatives that show no love for their parent-less nephew, the Dursleys, and knows nothing of the magical world he really belongs to, one day receives by owl-post his acceptance letter to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. His aunt and uncle being afraid of anything and everything about the world that Harry has discovered he belongs to, and are determined to 'squash' the magic out of him. In a feeble attempt to keep Harry from attending the magical school, the Dursleys + Harry take a trip to a hut on an isolated rock island in the middle of a raging sea. But the trip is short lived when the half giant Hogwarts game keeper Hagrid shows up in the middle of the night crashing down the door ready to take Harry to the world he belongs to.
From there Harry takes his first steps into JKR's wonderfully created magical world where he'll make some good and loyal friends, find he has more than one enemy, discover more about himself and what really happened to his parents and take on a dangerous enemy from his past that is trying to steal something valuable from the school.
From spells to Quidditch to food that magically appears, Knuts, Galleons, Sickles, invisibility cloaks, characters you'll fall in love with and some characters you'll grumble at and so much more than you would have expected, the first book in JK Rowlings 7 book series a fun and entertaining ride, that is great for all ages, and will leave you wanting to know more about Harry and his journey to discover his past present and future.
