2.5⭐️I think Lucy Score didn’t get the memo that less is more.

It pains me to give this story 2.5 stars because it started very promising, but how it was lead after 30 % mark made my rating go down down down until it reached level 0.

I read too many books to be able to appreciate such an impersonal touch on different tropes and black and white characters.

This book is overflowing with unnecessary, very stereotypical side characters (gay best friend - checked (twice), crazy grandma - checked, bad twin - checked, teenager causing no drama -checked, overbearing parents - checked). And oh man, all those people are waaaay too involved in the couple’s business! Why is everyone trying to make them a couple? Why is everyone (seriously, the entire city) still trying to harass the guy even after their relationship has ended? What do they have to do with it? And I would be OK if it was the best friend trying to make him realise something. Nope, here even a FATHER of the girl is trying to convince the guy to change his mind about her. Has this ever ended well in a real life?

Voila:

“Son, you fucked up big-time, he continued. “I may be Naomi’s father, and that might bias me, but I know my daughter is one-of-a-kind. A once in a lifetime woman. Just like her mom. And I don’t like what it says about how you feel about yourself that you don’t think you deserve her.

““Boo! they chorused. Silver and Max were giving me the thumbs-down. Fi was giving me one thumbs-down and one middle finger. The other server, Brad, a new hire brought on to even out the estrogen, refused to make eye contact with me.

There are so many (sometimes very strange) situations making no addition to the story that I don’t even try to mention all of them. Some of my “fav (SMALL SPOILER AHEAD!): random ex showing out of the blue, kissing the hero in front of the heroine, than the same ex going after (obviously) mad heroine only to invite her for some midday drinks and bonding over how the hero left them both and how he sucks.

And of course, if you know my taste a bit, you know that I live for the low-drama ending. Well, call this the opposite of low-drama. The conflict in this book didn’t even make any sense! It was so unnatural and unnecessary that I think that it was chosen based on lack of any other ideas.
