This book was a chore to get through. The first third was interesting enough to have me intrigued to find out what’s happening on a university campus between a loner chick and a clique of extremely tight-knit female friends who participate in a aspiring writer’s workshop with her. Maybe I got some explanation, I don’t know. Maybe the last third of the book just went over my head.
I could not classify the genre of this story. I guess elements of fantasy? The writing was, at times, very poetic and evocative, but I pretty much didn’t care about what happened to the characters. There was one relationship I thought was real and could last a lifetime, but hey joke’s on me!
All I can say is this book was not my cup of tea because it was too abstract and I would’ve liked a better discussion providing some backstory, and as the story wrapped up, give me a clue as to what the heck was going on. Meh.
