really liked it

Loved this book. It was a great read-aloud with my kids, since the Big Friendly Giant’s flopsy way of talking is so fun to say out loud. Plus the chapters are about the perfect length for before bed, usually only taking about five minutes.

For bedtime stories, my rubric is pretty much the following:

-Are the chapters a good length? (5-10 minutes)
-Does it keep my kids attention?
-Is it good for their imagination?
-Do I enjoy reading it also?

This book is a yes on all accounts (maybe the only questionable part is giving their imagination, right before bed, images of giants snatching children from their beds at night and gobbling them whole, but in those cases, you just read an extra chapter, lol).

Plus, bonus points—it has a movie to go with it! It’s always great finishing a book and then following it up with the cinematic version as a family.

Just beware, it might leave your kids complaining of “veggi-terribles at dinner. But in that case, just remind them to be thankful that snozzcumbers aren’t on the menu (and thankfully, neither are human beans).
