it was amazing

Wow. I'm not sure there is more that I can say about this book. It says its for young readers - I guess at 43 I no longer qualify. I've given it to my 14 year old reading maniac to see what she thinks. I can't even really describe this book. I absolutely LOVED the narrator's voice through the entire book. The depth of the story was amazing. It showed the horrors of Nazi Germany without being too graphic - if that makes any sense. Written from the point of view of Anne Frank's opposite - a little German girl who experiences the brutality of war from a whole different perspective. You will love every main character in this book. Except of course, the Fuhrer. This is not a light read, but it is very hard to put down. I'm not sure how I feel right now. I'm sad - because can you ever feel happy after reading anything about Nazi Germany? But I'm not depressed because it also shows the strength of human spirit that can prevail...and the ability of children to hurt and heal and grow. This book will not disappoint.
