This volume focuses on the renegades Jack and Boy Blue, telling the tale of each after both wen AWOL from Fable Town.
The first part concerns the gamble of Jack who goes to Hollywood with his stolen treasures from the coffers of Blue Beard, seeking to conquer the show business to carve his name as the most memorable of the fables, and thus gaining the most magical powers that feed their existence from the memories and Idolation of us mundies, yet it all comes to ruin after years of boosting his success by someone as little as Jill, who is thoug her tiny size is capable of big mischief when pushed to the sidelines by Jack, who is practically imprisoning her in a cage of gold. Yet, her tip to Beast which does indeed bring ruin to him, leaves his business prospering, but with all the profits landing in Fable Town coffers.
And then we move on to the second part of the story that goes on in a parallel time line with Prince Charming assigning Mowgli to the task of tracking and bringing back Bigby to him, which might be the core of some other adventure in the coming volumes, then we move on to the other renegade Blue, who goes on a lone quest to find and kill the adversary, and to rescue his beloved Red Riding Hood, his quest though is successful on both accounts, uncovers more deeper truths that complicates everything for him and for the Fables.
The book ends with Blue going back to Fabetwon with Red in tow, with a little surprise about the true motive behind his escapade.
Volume after volume, this tale proves to be a complex, captivating tale, well written and illustrated...
