it was amazing
bookshelves: absolute-faves, read-in-school

wow, just wow. This book joins the list of my favorites: The Secret History, Rebecca, Beloved, The Great Gatsby, The Age of Innocence, Ragtime, etc. What do most of these books have in common? All but two were written by women. Coincidence? I think not. Enchi writes a deliberately female narrative that challenges traditional writing and transgresses social taboos in a stunning way. Her writing is its own form of possession, possession of the reader. It’s the kind of book where after some paragraphs, you just have to sit and stare into the void for a few seconds. I wish I could read this again for the very first time. “A woman’s love is quick to turn into a passion for revenge an obsession that becomes an endless river of blood, flowing on from generation to generation. I MEAN COME ON NOW
