My Secret Book (Hesperus Classics)

The first 2 books I found quite relatable, however hardly illuminating. That being said, book 3 was a complete disaster: weak, repetitive arguments based on stoic philosophy, not convincing at all (neither from rational, nor from emotional point of view).
The shadow of the great people of ancient past, that were so much revered by Renaissance writers, seemingly made them unable to produce original works and think for themselves. For this we'll have to wait until Enlightenment, a "man's release from his self-incurred tutelage. Tutelage is man's inability to make use of his understanding without direction from another." (Kant)
