Wicked: The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West (The Wicked Years, #1)

Part social allegory, part political warning (think "1984"), part fun fantasy book, Wicked really does have it all. You've got political conspiracies, social upheavals, sabotage, murder, love, sex, and a little sorcery & magic thrown into the mix. Althought it took me a really long time to get through this book, I really enjoyed it. Maguire has a unique style, and the reader really has to focus on every word to appreciate the story....I am sure that some of the symbolism and nuances were lost on me, but I LOVED how he flipped everything about Oz on it's head, and things were never what they seemed!
